A Southend nightclub boss was today threatening legal action after a power cut left hundreds of revellers in the dark.
Lou Manzi, who owns Talk Nightclub in Lucy Road, claims he lost thousands of pounds when the music and lights went out.
Clubbers were evacuated from the venue which was then closed for the rest of Saturday night as workers from electricity supply company 24seven tried to restore power.
Trouble occured following a fault on an electricity transformer based at the premises of Talk.
A total of 40 premises were affected by the power cut, including the Electric Avenue and New York New York arcades, the Zinc Nightclub and Chinnery's bar on the seafront.
Lou Manzi, 56, said: "This was our busiest Saturday night for ages and we were expecting up to a thousand people. If it is 24seven's mistake then they should cough up and pay compensation."
