We have all been following the tragic news about Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells.

Sadly it shows it is important to keep yourself safe.

I got in touch with PC Beryl Fennell, Schools Liason Officer for Rochford District, whose job it is to go talk about your safety.

She gave us the following tips:

1 Never go anywhere without telling an adult where you are going, what time you are going to be back and who you are going with

2 If during that time you want to change your plans, contact the adult looking after you and let them know where you are going and for how long.

PC Fennell also says you still have to be careful even if an adult you recognise asks you to go with them.

1 If people want you to go off and do something with them, check it is OK with the adult looking after you. Genuine people will not have a problem with you telling your mum

2 You must also listen to what the adult looking after you says. If they don't want you to go off with that person, you have to accept that decision.
