A 39-year-old man has been cautioned by police for common assault after he drunkenly tried to hit a taxi driver with a baseball bat.
The incident happened when the driver took the man to his home in Laburnum Avenue, Wickford, and asked for the £40 fare.
Police said the man only had £25 on him and went into his home, but when he returned he was carrying a baseball bat.
