A pensioner today told how she may give up driving after young joyriders stole her car and smashed it up.
May Hurst, 65, said she almost burst into tears when her silver blue Toyota Carina estate car was discovered dumped behind Walton's Columbine Centre
"My heart broke when I saw the front doors wide open, the steering wheel smashed and the wing badly dented," she said.
Mrs Hurst, who lives in Florence Road, Walton, said the family car was taken from outside their home on Sunday afternoon.
The car was later found abandoned behind the Columbine Centre and has now been towed away to Clacton.
Mrs Hurst said: "I will have to think very hard before I go and try to buy another one and I may not even bother."
Anyone who saw the car being stolen or driven around on Sunday evening is asked to contact police on 01255 221312
