More nurses, therapists, and social care staff are providing skilled mental health care in Billericay and Wickford thanks to a new trust, chaired by a Wickford woman.

Health chief, Jai Tout has been delighted at a new mental health trust's achievements across the south of Essex, since it was set up just four months ago.

The South Essex Partnership NHS Trust launched the new trust in April, and Mrs Tout has been pleased with its flying start.

Jai Tout, who has lived in Wickford for 14 years said: "The new trust is doing extremely well. These are exciting times for the new partnership Trust.

"We have got off to a flying start with several major achievements."

Billericay and Wickford already benefit from two new social workers, a community psychiatric nurse and two consultant psychiatrists that have been appointed for the area.

People suffering with anxiety, emotional crisis, bereavement or depression in the towns can be helped by a new psychologist appointed for Basildon by the trust.

A state-of-the-art resource centre costing £500,000 in Basildon is also being planned, providing support for patients with mental illness in the area.
