A former college student has told a jury how builder Stuart Campbell tried to take photos of her by asking if she was a model.

Khardien-Daun Stephens said she was flattered by the attention from Campbell, accused of murdering his niece Danielle Jones.

The 25-year-old - giving evidence from a wheelchair - told how in 1994 Campbell approached her as she walked home from Palmer's College.

She said she was dressed in a short blue and white skirt and white top when Campbell pulled up near her in a flatbed truck.

She said: "He asked if I was a model and I said no, but I was probably interested in that kind of thing.

"He said he was a builder, which I thought was obvious, and said he was getting into amateur photography and would be interested to take pictures of me if I was interested. I was flattered."

Campbell handed her his phone number and said the photos would be done at his house and his wife would be there so it would be okay.

Stuart Campbell, 44, of Meadow Road, Grays, denies the abduction and murder of Danielle Jones, of Hayle, East Tilbury. The case continues
