Residents are to take legal advice as part of their bid to halt plans for a travellers site in their village.

People living in Little Clacton are preparing to launch a campaign to object to a scheme put forward by Essex County Council.

It wants to set up two short-term stopping places for travellers one of which is on land to the west of Tan Lane, in Little Clacton.

But parish councillors have vowed to fight the proposal to the bitter end.

Chairman Jeff Couzens said: "Our battlecry is that we do not want it and we will fight tooth and nail not to have it in our village."

The parish council is waiting to find out whether Tendring councillors are supporting the project. They were due to discuss it at a cabinet meeting today.
