Former Shrimper Debbie Ursell returned to haunt Southend United ladies when she scored the opener in East Thurrock ladies' 2-0 Essex Cup win.
Ursell smashed a 25-yard shot into the top right-hand corner on 68 minutes after Vicci Pritchard cut the ball back.
Pritchard then wrapped up the victory when she took on a brilliant clearance by Jenny Shaw to slide the ball past the oncoming keeper.
Rocks, for whom keeper Julie Wills was outstanding, now meet White Notley in the second round on December 15.
