Vandals have struck at a village hall - smashing windows for the sixth time this year.

It is the latest in a long line of damage and theft at Little Clacton Village Hall and trustees running the site have had enough. But they are at a loss for ideas on how to thwart the youngsters.

John Dunnett, treasurer of the committee, said the latest spate of damage would set them back £300.

"It is just mindless vandalism by a group of yobs and I do not know what the answer to it is," he said. "It just goes on and on and we have to pick up the bill."

Mr Dunnett said elderly members of the village's carpet bowls club, which use the hall for their matches, also recently came under fire.

"Four cars were scratched while they were playing and windows were also damaged on the vehicles," he said. "One of the cars has got to be totally resprayed."

At the same time as the windows at the hall were smashed, a number of drainpipes and guttering were also pulled down from the building.
