Injury-hit hero Kemal Izzet is ready to play through the pain barrier in a bid to make sure Colchester United stay in the Second Division.
It has emerged that Izzet has been playing for the last month with a broken right wrist.
And recently signed team-mate Sam Stockley - who hasn't missed a game through injury for two-and-a-half-years - is determined not to miss out too.
Pocket battleship Izzet, who hasn't trained this week since damaging a hamstring in a training accident with Alan White, still has his sights set on facing Plymouth Argyle at Layer Road on Saturday despite playing through the agony of the fractured wrist which he first broke 13 months ago in the 2-0 home win over Reading.
The pint-sized former Charlton midfielder said: "I fractured the wrist again in exactly the same place while we were warming up before our game at Huddersfield just over a month ago.
"I ran into Danny Steele and bent the wrist right back and I've been in a lot of pain ever since.
"It's very awkward because I can't even pick things up, but I'm prepared to battle on to the end of the season when I will have an operation to put everything right."
