Burglary squad officers fear raiders who stole a decommissioned rifle may use it to scare off victims.

The gun was taken from a house in Leasway, Westcliff, and police have made an urgent appeal for help to track it down.

A collection of rare stamps was also taken.

If you can help, call PC Jon Holden, of the Southend burglary squad, on 01702 431212.
