Councillors have agreed to allow a new entrance to be built at Queensway House, Southend.
The development control committee granted planning permission for an entrance screen, canopy and roller shutter to be installed on the second floor of the building on Essex Street.
The work will result in a larger reception area for the property which houses Southend Council's social workers.
