Drivers are being advised to steer clear of a key road link between Benfleet, Hadleigh and Canvey when water main repair work begins on Monday.

Essex and Suffolk Water workers are due to start mains replacement work in Benfleet Road, Benfleet, between Essex Way, and Shipwrights Drive.

The work will be part of the water giant's £2million drive to improve water quality in Castle Point and the latest changes will take around six weeks.

Vanessa Morriss, customer manager for Essex and Suffolk Water, said: "To ensure safety to pedestrians, motorists and staff on site, two-way traffic lights will be in operation while this work is completed.

"We will ensure disruption to residents and road-users is kept to a minimum, but it is inevitable there will be some delays so it may be beneficial to find an alternative route during these few weeks."
