Two cheeky youths stole biscuits and cakes from a Benfleet newsagents after they were refused cigarettes.
The youngsters, thought to be in their early teens, entered the store in the High Road at around 11am on Monday.
They sprinted off with the goods when the shop keeper said they were too young to buy tobacco.
Anyone who saw the theft should call Benfleet police on 01268 756221.
