Congratulations were in order at Basildon Ladies for Josie Wilby and Judy Long when they won the final round of the Winter Foursomes against the tough opposition of Pam Gray and Shirley Clayton.

Both couples had played excellent golf in the round robin competition throughout the winter months earning their place on Sunday.

In a tight game the match was even until the 13th when the winning duo moved up a notch in order to finalise the match on the 16th with a 4 and 3 result.

Josie was again in fine form the following Sunday in the Coronation Foursomes.

This time, partnered by her daughter Jackie Worthington, the pair won the event with an impressive net 71. Olive Bell and Margaret O'Leary took second place with a net 77.

The Bronze Team of seven players havehad a very disappointing start. The first of the five matches was played at Basildon against Thorpe Hall.

In a tight affair the visitors finally secured a win at 4-3.

The Basildon team then played away to Woodford, but the unfamiliar course with its tricky greens proved too much for the Basildon ladies who finally lost to the home team 5-2.
