French polish - that is what Wickford Carparts Southend District League side Rochford Town displayed at Roots Hall last night as they successfully negotiated the second part of their attempt to win four top pieces of silverware this season.

Having already collected the Premier title, they won the league's major knockout competition, the French Cup, when they beat Hadleigh and Thundersley 2-1 in the final thanks to goals from Spence (33 mins) and Wood (80 mins).

An 85th-minute consolation for the losers came from M Wadeson five minutes from time. Rochford are back at the home of Southend United tomorrow night when they meet Essex Intermediate League White Ensign for the senior Southend Charity Competition prize.

Then, on May 10, they are at Burrroughs Park, Great Wakering, for the league's Centenary Cup final against Chase.
