Southend: Surgeries to hit crime

This article is brought to you by our exclusive subscriber partnership with our sister title USA Today, and has been written by our American colleagues. It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald.

Homeowners are being urged to attend Southend advice surgeries to help beat crime.

Southend Police are trying to set up regular meetings at sites throughout the town.

A spokesman said: "The idea is that if you have a problem, we will try to sort it out for you by getting in touch with the right authority.

"Whether your problem comes within the remit of the police, trading standards, environmental health, housing, highways or abandoned vehicles, we hope to be able to put you in touch with the relevant authority."
