Former Harwich midfielder Peter Johnson bagged a hat-trick in Stanway Rovers' 5-1 win over Saffron Walden last night.
Johnson scored two neat finishes and a header to leave boss Steve Ball delighted.
"I asked Peter to notch a few for us this year and I'll be happy if he carries on like that," said Ball.
Ray Turner and Tom English added the others for Rovers against a side that has claimed the scalps of other Ridgeons League sides Clacton and Long Melford this pre-season.
Ball added: "They were a decent side, but we played really well."
