Perhaps the disappointment from V this year was Tim Burgess from the Charlatans.
Playing the NME stage and dressed in a red shirt, jeans and cowboy hat, he sang country- influenced new material from his solo album to be released next month.
However he failed to find the spark which had helped to make the Charlatans' music so appealing.
Perhaps it is just a case of buying the album, listening to the tracks and letting the new sound grow on you. This reviewer however is unconvinced.
He sang "I Believe In The Spirit" which will be the first single from the new album.
