Castle Point Council will be carrying out an investigation into traffic problems on a Hadleigh road.
Residents in Heather Drive have complained that large volumes of traffic use the residential road as a rat-run to bypass the A13, London Road through Hadleigh.
Director of technical services Nigel Thomas will be carrying out the investigation.
He said: "This problem has not come to our notice previously and is closely linked to issues within the Southend area. It will therefore not be possible to carry out this investigation in isolation. We will need to involve Southend Council in any proposals to alleviate this problem."
