Harwich MP Ivan Henderson and his wife Jo are expecting their first child.
The baby is due in the summer and the couple are delighted.
"Ivan and Jo Henderson have great pleasure in confirming that Jo is expecting their first child," said a statement from the 45-year-old MP's office.
It added: "We are extremely pleased with this news and are looking forward to the birth of our baby in June this year."
Mr Henderson won the Harwich seat from Tory Iain Sproat in May 1997, when he overturned a 17,159 majority. He defended his position in 2001.
