Police were today searching for a hit and run driver who made off after her car was involved in a collision with a pedestrian in Clacton town centre.
The pedestrian, who is in his 30s and is from the area, was taken to Colchester General Hospital by ambulance after the accident.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Insp Paul Butcher, of Clacton police, said the red car involved in the accident was driven by a woman and she had a woman passenger.
He said: "The car stopped and the women got out of the vehicle
"However, they then got back into their car and drove off from the scene."
The collision happened near the junction of Station Road and Carnarvon Road close to the Princes Theatre just before 8.30pm last night.
