Harwich MP Ivan Henderson was today set to pit his footballing skills against sports legends like Kenny Dalglish.
He is part of the parliamentary football team due to play in a charity match at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge.
The event has been organised to raise money to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Mr Henderson will face former footballing heroes Ian Wright, Peter Beardsley, Mark Bright, Craig Johnston and Gavin Peacock, as well as TV celebrity Angus Deayton.
Mr Henderson said: "It is quite a daunting prospect to play against the likes of Kenny Dalglish at Stamford Bridge. I know it will be a tremendous occasion which will contribute to the efforts being made to find a cure for cystic fibrosis."
