An appeal for a new bladder scanner for Southend Hospital has moved a step closer to its target with the donation of £1,000 in memory of two people.
Audrey Tulley presented the money for Bedwell ward's appeal, bringing the amount raised to £5,000 of the £6,500 needed.
The money was donated by friends and family instead of flowers following the death of Mrs Tully's husband James, 88, who died earlier this year of renal failure.
Contributions were also given in memory of Mrs Tulley's daughter, Lorraine Ellis, who was a nurse on Bedwell ward before she died of lung cancer two years ago, aged 51.
The cheque was received by consultant Dr Christine Gent and ward sister Jane Mitchell.
Jane Mitchell said: "Lorraine was a much loved member of our ward team.
"Our thanks go to Audrey and her friends and family for this generous donation"
