As a fitting end to the week, Westcliff Library held a Silver Surfers day to allow older people the chance to find out more about the web and its uses.
Librarian Toby Evans greeted and helped nearly 50 people wanting to know more at the free event, at the library in London Road.
He said: "All eight PCs were in use most of the time. People hadn't realised they could book holidays on the net and quite a few signed up for e-mail." Individuals were given up to an hour to surf.
Mr Evans said: "We thought about running it annually, but with more community involvement we might do it on a more regular basis."
