Course records were smashed as hundreds swam, cycled and ran as part of the prestigious Braintree Triathlon.
The individual winner was Stuart Dinwoodie, of Wilthshire Police, who completed the course in 55 minutes and 15 seconds - two minutes better than the previous best.
The fastest woman competitor was Juliette Vickery, from Cambridge Triathlon Club, with a time of one hour and two minutes, beating the record by six minutes.
Nearly 200 competitors, including 80 police officers from around the country, took part in the gruelling race organised by Essex Police Triathlon Club on Sunday afternoon.
Each competitor swam four hundred metres, followed by a 22km cycle ride and finished off with a 5km run which started at the Riverside Centre in Braintree.
Also taking part in the relay team was the Chief Constable of Essex Police, David Stevens. Winners of the relay team prize went to the Xpect Girls from Xpect Health and Fitness Centre, Springwood Industrial Estate, Braintree.
