A cracking mirror carp of 24lb put a smile on Mitchell Cook's face when he fished a short session at Basildon Northlands Park Lake.

The fish was followed by a smaller specimen of 17lb 2oz before Mitchell decided it was time for a late breakfast!

Mitchell had spotted numerous big carp in the road lake the previous evening. During his brief visit he had landed a carp of 11lb 8oz.

The following morning he was back at the venue, and soon had at least eight big fish feeding in front of him.

He missed the first take but made no mistakes with the second to hook the 24lb mirror.

After the photographs were taken Mitchell carried on fishing to take the seventeen pounder only half an hour or so later.

Phil Harland was pleased was his first ever trip to the Northlands Park caf lake when it produced a personal best mirror carp of 23lb 8oz!

Phil fished the Southern end of the lake taking his big carp from the swim between the reed bed and the shallows. It fell to a homemade Mainline boilie.
