Graham Napier, the 24-year-old Essex allrounder, has signed a one-year extension to his contract which will keep with the county until the end of the 2005 season.
It is reward for the way the Colchester-born players has progressed with both bat and ball during the course of the season in which he has taken 20 first-class wickets and scored nearly 300 runs.
Last season Napier equalled the highest number of wickets taken by an Essex player in a one-day league campaign - 33 - and also put in encouraging performances when he toured Malaysia with the ECB Academy squad last winter.
"Graham has made great strides over the last couple of years. The extension of his contract is due recognition of his efforts," said Essex Chief Executive David East.
