Plans to change to the site of Braintree's £4.5m swimming pool will mean work has been put back to next year.
Braintree Council revealed after talks with Real, the representatives of Hermes, the new owners of the Freeport site, it has been recommended to move the site of the swimming pool.
Leader of council Graham Butland revealed the cabinet were set to approve that negotiations will continue with Realm to move the pool to land near to Cineworld cinema and the Chicago Rock Cafe car park.
The initial site for the pool will be instead used as additional car parking spaces in the new plans.
If approved, Mr Butland said the new pool would take between 18 months to two years to complete on its new location.
