Two robbers claiming to be armed with knives robbed a jewellery store stealing handfuls of expensive chains and rings.
Crime scene - shutters were down at Warburton today after the raid
The men raided the Warburton jewellery shop, in the Broadway, Leigh, shortly before 4pm yesterday.
The men, in their twenties, threatened a female assistant before snatching jewellery from a display at the front of the shop.
No knife was seen during the raid by the assistant, but was referred to by the thieves.
Det Con Anna Higgins said: "I am particularly keen to hear from the young woman driver of a white or silver van who called out to a member of staff who ran out of the shop, saying: 'They have gone down there.'
One of the robbers was described as Asian, 5ft 8in tall, slightly built and wearing dark clothing.
His accomplice was African, 5ft 10in tall, with a wiry, slim build.
