Elmstead Grasshoppers' top place and unbeaten run in division one was maintained with a comfortable 88-run victory over Boxted.

Having lost the toss and been asked to bat first, Elmstead amassed 262 for six.

Captain Mark Perrin continued his good form, scoring 97, and was supported with useful contributions from Simon Eves (38) and Steve Sarsby (41 not out).

With a big total to overhaul, Boxted were never really in the hunt and closed their innings on 174 for seven.

Second-place Colchester openers Matt Austin (114 not out) and Matt Mehen (60 not out) starred in an 186-run unbroken partnership as they strolled to victory over Copford, who had scored 184.

Marlon Dias claimed four for 38.

Halstead completed a comfortable double over Mersea.

Batting first, they overcame the loss of their skipper in the first over to post a creditable 217 for six.

All the Halstead batsmen got in on a tricky wicket, with M Johnson top-scoring with 43.

Mersea, in reply, were always behind the required rate, although Ian Young (48) and Stuart Mills (20) briefly gave the side encouragment.

Johnson then completed a great day for him by ripping the tail out and returning figures of four for 21. Mersea were all out for 164.
