South Essex recycling champs Castle Point Council are set to introduce glass and cardboard collections.
The council's assistant director of health, Roy Knowles, said the council would start collecting cardboard in September.
He said: "Then we are going to bring glass collections at the beginning of the next calendar year.
"Residents will be given a box which we will collect from the kerbside once a fortnight.
"We will still carry on having bottle banks. People who have a lot of glass and want to dispose of it in between the fortnightly collections may still want to go to the bottle banks."
The council has a leading track record on recycling.
