Versatile defender Lewis Hunt is still pondering his future with Southend United.

The composed centre back enjoyed a successful and lengthy loan spell with the Shrimpers last season - making 34 appearances during a seven-month stint.

But, despite meeting Blues boss Steve Tilson for contract talks, Hunt is currently stalling on signing a new one-year deal to stay with the Third Division side.

"Talks are ongoing at the moment and hopefully something can be sorted out," confirmed Hunt.

"It's hard to tell what's going to happen and where I might end up next season right now, but I wouldn't mind going back to play for Southend.

"I had a good time there last year, things went well and it's just a case of waiting to see what happens."

But Hunt, who also appeared in midfield for the Seasiders, has been approached by a handful of other Football League clubs who are all hopeful of securing the 21-year-old's services.

"I'm in talks with four other clubs as well," said the Birmingham-born battler.
