A pensioner was today recovering after a lucky escape when he fell from a ladder.
The 70-year-old had been painting at home in Alexandra Road, Great Wakering, yesterday when the ladder slipped and he fell ten feet to the ground, landing on his side.
A Rapid Response Vehicle, an ambulance from Southend and the air ambulance were all sent.
He was taken to Southend Hospital, but ambulance staff were amazed how little the man was injured in the fall. He suffered bruising. Paramedic Tony Ross said: "Considering the height he fell and his age, he has had a very lucky escape."
