An elderly woman did not give in to conmen who called at her house asking for money
The three men called at the woman's house in Magazine Farm Way, Lexden, Colchester, while she was having building work done and asked for £125 payment.
But the woman realised they were not the real builders and refused to pay.
The men then made off when the real builders arrived.
One of the men was white, with short, dark hair, 5ft 8in tall and was wearing a T-shirt.
He drove off in a white, G-registration pick-up truck.
