Southend United star Mark Gower is on the verge of signing an extended one-year contract to stay with the Shrimpers.
The talented 25-year-old, who was voted Blues player of the season by both the club's supporters and players, still has a year left on his current Roots Hall deal.
But, after producing a string of promising performances during his debut campaign with the Sea-siders, boss Steve Tilson is determined to keep the former Barnet winger.
"We've offered Mark another year to his contract and he will be signing it when he gets back off his holiday," confirmed the Shrimpers chief.
"That's obviously a huge boost for us as Mark is a very good player and we want to get him on a longer contract."
