Alastair Bols, with the help of his wife, Katie, is the new landlord at the Kings Head pub in Gosfield.

He is taking part in the Supercar Run, a five-day treasure hunt race across Europe, in aid of charity.

The landlord has raised £3,000 in sponsorship, which is required to enter the race and will go to the Children With Aids charity.

He said: "I read about supermodel Jodie Kidd doing the event last year. I phoned up the organisers and asked if it was going ahead this year. They said 'yes' and here I am!"

Mr Bols, a self-confessed "petrol head", will be driving a classic AC Cobra - the only one to be taking part.

The cars head for France and at checkpoints the drivers are given cryptic clues as to their next destination.
