Southend United manager Steve Tilson will today hold more talks with an experienced centre back, although he is not naming his target.

Tilson is determined to recruit another defender following the departure of Leon Cort to Hull City.

And Tilson is confident of filling the void by capturing the services of a solid stopper.

"We've held talks with the lad and we will be seeing him again today," confirmed Tilson.

"Hopefully we will get a decision and hopefully it will be a good one too as he's a good, experienced player who I'm sure would do well for us next season."

Tilson refused to publicly reveal his transfer target but revealed the centre back was currently plying his trade for a Third Division side.

"He knows this level of the game ever so well and he's someone who doesn't get a lot of injuries so it would really be good news for us if he agrees to sign," he said.

"We will have to wait and see what happens but I'm fairly hopeful."
