Colchester United physio Stuart Ayles has revealed how the U's players have been keeping up their fitness levels over the summer break.
Kem Izzet, Greg Halford, Dean Gerken, Simon Brown, Ross Crouch and John White, as well as manager Phil Parkinson, are among those who have been pounding the treadmills at the town's Topnotch health club.
Ayles said: "The young lads that have come up from the youth team have been doing weights and strengthening work.
"A couple of the pros have been in anyway.
"It's not necessarily extra work to what you would expect them to do in the summer, but they live locally so they can come in and I can coach them through it."
"All the players went away with a personalised off-season programme which incorporates weights and different levels of running throughout the summer."
