Benfleet defeated Ongar by five wickets but made a meal of their win.
Ongar won the toss and opted to bat first, yet made little impression against the Benfleet attack.
Brown (44) was the only batsman to offer much resistance for the visitors as they struggled to 121-5 before being bowled out for 137 in the 40th over.
Dave Miles (4-23), Chris Shaw (2-24) and 15-year-old leg-spinner Sean Pritchard (3-48) did the damage for the Woodside Park hosts.
Benfleet lost a few early wickets before Andy Prophet (37) steadied things. Then a 58 partnership from skipper Mike Tremain (40no) and Joe Daly (21no) carried the hosts to victory with four overs to spare. Brown took 2-20 for Ongar.
