An angry mother has rapped thieves who stole hanging baskets and potted plants that she had made with her young daughter.
The horticultural criminals struck at the family home in Cross Road, Maldon, during the night and stole two hanging baskets and two pots filled with flowers.
Diane King had even taken the precaution of chaining the baskets to brackets on the outside wall of her house, but the thieves still managed to take them.
Mrs King, 37, is particularly angry because she had built up the baskets and pots from scratch with her seven-year-old daughter Melissa.
She said: "I'm just so angry. We moved here in January and me and my daughter have been planting them together, watering them and watching them grow. It's not as if we just bought them already done."
Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Cross Road last Tuesday or Wednesday night or who has any information about the thefts can contact Maldon police on 01621 852255
