A man was lucky to escape from his car with only minor injuries after a tree fell on it in Sible Hedingham.
Ambulance crews, including the Essex Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene yesterday after it was reported that the man was trapped.
But even though the trees branches had shattered the car's windscreen, the driver was able to get out with minor injuries.
The man, who is in his late 30s and from Haverhill, suffered a suspected fractured wrist and cuts from flying glass.
He was taken by land ambulance to Colchester General Hospital for treatment.
