Round-the-clock surveillance is being launched at a busy rail station with 25 CCTV cameras installed.
It is the latest in a series of work to upgrade and improve rail stations across the region, pledged as part of rail operator One's franchise bid.
The work under way at Manningtree rail station, costing £300,000, will see a new bus shelter and cycle parking area, a waiting room, a new ticket window and security mirrors are also being added to the station.
On top of that, security will be improved with the addition of 25 CCTV cameras.
Derek Monnery, of Manningtree Rail Users' Association, said the organisation had been campaigning for a long time for a second booking window, and was pleased to have got it.
Mark Livock, Network Rail project director said: "We are very pleased to have been able to improve Manningtree station and make this attractive station even more delightful."
