More than 100 elderly people have benefited from decorating work carried out by Ford employees.
Staff from the car company gave two elderly people's homes a make-over.
Wickford's Spencer Court was first, and nine volunteers spruced-up its communal area.
A spokesman for Basildon Council said: "The two-day task gave a fresh feel to the well-used room and helped lift the spirits of the 48 residents. They are very happy with their improved surroundings."
Similar work was carried out at Pintails in Pitsea for the 54 residents there.
The spokesman said: "Ford's volunteer programme allows employees to donate up to 16 hours a year on different community projects."
Other businesses wanting to help should contact the council's regeneration services on 01268 294413.
