Joe Royle will look to add to his thin-on-the-ground Ipswich Town squad once the future of a number of players has been finalised.
The Blues returned to pre-season training yesterday - six weeks ahead of the new Championship campaign.
And doubts are still circling who will remain at Portman Road by the time they kick-off at home to Gillingham on August 7.
Royle is hopeful Blues stalwarts Richard Naylor, Jim Magilton and Fabian Wilnis will agree new deals with their current ones running out this Thursday.
He said: "I have spoken to Jim and Richard and the signs are encouraging.
"I am as confident as I can be that they will sign, 99 per cent sure.
"Fabian has also indicated that he will be staying."
Defender Chris Makin will also sit down with Town's chief to discuss what his future holds.
