Canvey Island have added to their squad by signing a player who made a major impact with fellow Ryman Premier side Sutton United last season.

Tony Quinton, who can fill a midfield or central defensive role, joined the Surrey side last November and, after suffering a poor start to the campaign, they showed huge improvement.

Sutton did so well that they eventually finished runners-up to Gulls, who are now preparing for their first ever season at Nationwide Conference level.

Quinton signed for Sutton from Croydon Athletic and previously had spells with Hampton and Epsom.

He certainly gave Sutton something to remember him by as he cracked a hat-trick in their final league game of last season.

Quinton is the second summer signing for the Park Lane club following last week's arrival of central defender Dominic Sterling from Aldershot Town.
