A pensioner has died of his injuries a week after he was involved in a collision with a car.
Kenneth Smith, 80, of Mount Pleasant, Halstead, died in hospital on Saturday afternoon, following the collision while crossing Bridge Street, Halstead, on Friday, June 18.
Mr Smith had just made his regular morning visit to the Coral bookmakers nearby just before the incident at 12.13pm.
He was in a serious condition after the incident involving a black Ford Fusion car which occurred near the bridge.
The driver of the car, an 81-year-old man, also of Halstead, was shaken but unhurt.
An Essex Police spokesman urged witnesses to the incident who have not come forward to contact Bocking Road policing unit on 01376 330722.
