A moped rider who was involved in a collision with a fire engine in Clacton town centre is making progress in hospital.
The 23-year-old was being treated in the intensive care unit at Colchester General Hospital following the accident on Sunday.
PC Steve Woods, of Stanway road traffic unit, said the man's condition was improving.
He said: "His condition is now stable and he is much better than he was the day before. He is making progress and going in the right direction."
The accident happened at the junction of Carnarvon Road and Station Road at 1.15am.
