Southend Council's Marigold Family Resource Centre, run by the social care department, has received an award for being a child friendly service.
Well done - Vikki Caldwell and Kirsty Docks hand over the award to the centre's Meera Spillett and Phil Smith Picture: STEVE O'CONNELL
Young people who are involved with the council's youth and connexions service have developed a programme of assessments to determine how well local services deal with young people in the town.
A council spokesman said the centre had gained the award because of the sensitive way it was prepared to address the problems of children and families.
Previously, the Queensway Centre of Social Care had received a similar award and other teams are keen to improve their services to achieve the same recognition.
Kirsty Docks, project manager for the awards, said: "It is wonderful to see council departments winning these awards and gaining this recognition."
