Basildon-based telecoms company Marconi has won a £360million contract to provide engineering services to BT. The deal covers civil engineering, pole renewal and underground cabling.
Staff in Basildon would lead the contract, providing cable services. Basildon Council leader Malcolm Buckley said: "This can only be good news as it secures employment in the hi-tech industry."
